How much do millwork and cabinet shop drawings cost?
Hourly rates and wide per sheet ranges make a drawing quote hard to read. Here is how the two pricing models work, what a sheet is, and how to budget a set before anyone starts drawing.
Millwork and cabinet shop drawings are priced per sheet or per hour. Per sheet is easier to budget because the count is agreed first. At Axentra Solutions a standard sheet costs $150, complex millwork sheets cost more, and the sheet count is confirmed before work starts. Drawings come back in 24 to 48 hours as PDF or DWG.
The short answer
Ask how the drafter charges, per sheet or per hour, and ask for the sheet count before work starts. With a per sheet price and an agreed count, you know the cost of the set before the first line is drawn. At Axentra Solutions a standard sheet is $150.
Two ways shops get charged
Per sheet
You pay a set price for each sheet in the drawing set. Once the sheet count is agreed, the cost is known. Changes in scope change the count, and you see that before it is billed.
Per hour
You pay for the time the drafter spends. The rate is easy to compare, but the final bill depends on how long the set takes, including questions, coordination and revisions. That makes the total harder to predict when you are putting a bid or a budget together.
What a sheet is
A sheet is one sheet of the drawing set, with the plans, elevations and details on it. Before any drawing starts, Axentra Solutions counts the sheets with you and confirms the count and the price.
What makes a sheet complex
Some millwork sheets carry more detail than standard casework. Complex millwork sheets are priced above the standard $150 rate. When a sheet in your set falls into that group, we tell you which sheets and confirm the price with the sheet count, before work starts. Current sheet rates are on the pricing page.
How to budget a drawing set
- 01
Count the sheets
List the plans, elevations and details the submittal needs, sheet by sheet.
- 02
Agree the count
Confirm the sheet count, and which sheets are standard or complex, with the drafter.
- 03
Then price
Multiply by the per sheet rate. The number you budget is the number you pay for that scope.
What is on a cabinet shop drawing
- Cabinet plans and elevations, drawn in Mozaik
- Casework and millwork drawn for submittal
- PDF sets ready to submit, DWG files when you need CAD
- Your title block and templates on request
See the full service on the cabinet and millwork shop drawings page, or the countertop shop drawings page for seams, cutouts and slab layout.
Revisions after GC or designer comments
Comments come back on most submittals. Mark up the changes and we revise the drawings. Because the drawings are drawn from the same takeoff we bid from, the revised set still matches what you priced. If the job is still out to bid, cabinet estimating uses the same takeoff.
Drawings inside a monthly plan
Platinum ($5,500 a month) includes 4 shop drawing sheets a month and Diamond ($7,500 a month) includes 10. Sheet rates stay published for single jobs, so you can buy drawings one set at a time. Every service is listed on the shop drawings page.
