Back office / Bookkeeping

Books that show what each job made.

Generic construction books tell you what the company made. Yours should tell you what each job made. We keep job-costed books in QuickBooks as part of your back office, so every deposit, slab invoice, and PO lands on the right job.

Bookkeeping is one service inside Axentra Solutions' back office help for subcontractors. $750 a month covers up to 150 transactions with reconciliations, payables, receivables, and invoicing in QuickBooks. $1,100 a month adds job costing, WIP, and retainage for up to 400 transactions.

The monthly close, done every month.

What we do before the month is closed.

  1. Code every transaction to an account and a job
  2. Reconcile bank and card accounts
  3. Enter payables and post receivables
  4. Send invoices
  5. Report to you, with clean records for your CPA

Job costing, WIP, and retainage

Know which jobs make money.

  • Costs tracked by job, including customer deposits and material invoices
  • WIP reporting: billed against how far along each job is
  • Retainage tracked so it gets billed and collected
  • Estimate against actual, so real costs feed your next bid

FAQ

Bookkeeping questions.

What accounting software do you use?

QuickBooks. We work in your QuickBooks file.

How much does subcontractor bookkeeping cost?

$750 a month for up to 150 transactions, covering reconciliations, AP/AR, and invoicing. $1,100 a month adds job costing, WIP, and retainage, for up to 400 transactions.

What is job costing?

Job costing ties every cost, such as material, labor, and subs, to the job it belongs to. You see what each job made and can use those real costs on your next bid.

What is a WIP report?

A work-in-progress report compares what each open job has billed with how far along it is. It shows over-billed and under-billed jobs before they close.

Do you track retainage?

Yes. Retainage is tracked on the $1,100 tier, so it gets billed and collected when the job closes out.

Can you clean up books that have fallen behind?

Yes. The first step is cleanup: coding transactions and reconciling accounts. Then we keep the books current every month.

Do you work with my CPA?

Yes. We keep clean, reconciled records your CPA can work from.
